Microsoft Small Business Server makes it easy to share documents, faxes, printers, modems, and other company resources. Small Business Server also facilitates easy communication with employees, customers, and suppliers anywhere, at any time.

3. What do I do if I already have Windows NT Server and I want to get the additional functionality that Small Business Server offers?

Answer: For those customers who have already realized that Windows NT Server offers the best foundation for small business computing, Microsoft offers an easy upgrade path to Small Business Server. Customers should contact Ed Tancig.

4. Is there a maximum number of users with Small Business Server?

Answer: There is no limit to the number of user accounts that can be created on a Small Business Server. However, the maximum number of workstations (PC's) that can be connected to a Small Business Server at any one time is 50. Because many small businesses have more users than PC's, this licensing model provides maximum flexibility and value.

5. What if I want to add another Small Business Server or Windows NT/2000 Server to my business?

Answer: You may add additional Windows NT/2000 Servers to your network as your business conditions dictate (as an additional applications server, or to provide additional functionality or capacity). However, you can only run one copy of Small Business Server on your network

6. What are the system requirements for Small Business Server?

Answer: Microsoft Small Business Server System Requirements...

  • Server: Pentium 100 MHz or higher processor (Pentium 166 MHz or higher recommended), on a RISC-based systems need Alpha processor; 64 MB of RAM; 2 GB of hard-disk space; CD-ROM drive; VGA, Super VGA, or other video graphics adapter (800 x 600 x 256 colors).
  • Clients: PC with a 386DX or higher (486DX or higher recommended) with up to 96 MB of available hard disk space, depending on the applications chosen to install, One 3.5" high-density disk drive; VGA, Super VGA, or other video graphics adapter (800 x 600 x 256 colors); Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0.
  • Memory: Windows 95, 12 MB of RAM required to run applications individually, Windows NT, 4.0 24 MB of RAM to run applications individually (on both, more memory may be required to run additional applications simultaneously).
